The 2025 ProMX Championship kicked off at Wonthaggi, with high-intensity action setting the stage for another season of action ahead.
On the opening day of the two-day season opener, Charli Cannon dominated the first of three FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup and MXW races, while Seth Thomas established himself as the frontrunner in the MX85 Cup.
Meanwhile, MX1, MX2, and MX3 classes completed their qualifying sessions, with defending champion Kyle Webster, Brodie Connolly, and Seth Morrow setting the pace ahead of Sunday’s motos.
MX1: Webster Strikes First
Seven months after a thrilling championship battle, Kyle Webster and Jed Beaton wasted no time reigniting their rivalry in the MX1 class.
Webster topped both practice and qualifying, clocking a 1:43.201 lap to edge out Beaton by 0.51s.
Luke Clout secured the third-best time, followed by Kirk Gibbs and Nathan Crawford. Wilson Todd, Chandler Burns, Todd Waters, and Levi Rogers all qualified for Sunday’s MX1 Pole Shootout.

Pirelli MX2: Connolly Sets the Standard
Defending Pirelli MX2 champion Brodie Connolly made his intentions clear with a dominant 1:44.433 lap, securing pole by a commanding 2.2 seconds.
Behind him, Ryder Kingsford and Alex Larwood locked in second and third, while Noah Ferguson and Byron Dennis completed the top five.

MAXXIS MX3: Morrow Leads 67-Rider Field
With 67 competitors fighting for a spot on the 40-rider start gate, qualifying in MX3 was intense.
Seth Morrow topped the combined groups with a 1:50.680 lap, narrowly beating Kayd Kingsford by 0.16s.
Other top qualifiers included Seth Shackleton, Jackson Fuller, Jet Alsop, and Jack Deveson, with Ky Woods setting the outright fastest time (1:49.786) before receiving a three-position penalty for a practice infringement.

MXW: Cannon Unstoppable in International Showdown
Three-time MXW champion Charli Cannon sent a clear message to her competition, dominating both qualifying and the first race in Wonthaggi’s FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup.
Cannon’s 1:49.351 qualifying lap was nearly 3.5 seconds faster than her closest rival, American racer Lachlan Turner.
She then backed it up with a commanding wire-to-wire victory in Moto 1, winning by 28.7 seconds over Turner. Jordan Jarvis, Taylor Thompson, and Taylah McCutcheon rounded out the top five.
The remaining two MXW motos take place on Sunday.
MX85: Thomas Takes Control
Saturday’s MX85 Cup was all about Seth Thomas, who made a statement by dominating both qualifying and the opening race.
The GASGAS rider secured pole by over two seconds, then overcame an early deficit in Moto 1, chasing down Blake Bohannon before pulling away for an 11.9-second victory.
Deegan Fort, Nate Perrett, and Kiwi Nico Verhoeven completed the top five.
The second and final MX85 race takes place on Sunday.
