2008 Rockstar Mini SX rocks Frankston!

Posted:

For the third year in a row the Rockstar Mini SX presented by Fox and Honda was a great success. With a record 160 race entries and a perfect sunny day in Frankston, spectators were treated to a day of fun and entertainment.

Around 3000 people crowded the Frankston BMX track to see a dazzling display from the best mini racers in the country going head to head for over $4000 in cash and prizes. Many of the racers competed in multiple classes and definitely had there work cut out for them in the heat. It came as no surprise that the NSW duo of Ty and Cru Halliday would be near unstoppable, the two have dominated Australia‰Ûªs mini racing scene in recent years. Ty stamped his authority with class wins in both the 10 and 12 inch Pro classes, despite looking impressive early on, Cru had to retire for the day with an injured ankle. Once again the Rockstar Mini SX featured amazing FMX demos from Cam Sinclair, Blake Bilko Williams and Kain Saul, all turning their 250cc four stroke machines upside down, pulling some of the biggest flip trick trains outside of the Crusty Tour. All three were also there to race the event although Blake Williams was forced to withdraw to prevent re injuring his recently healed left ankle. Southside Promotions co founder Cam Sinclair maintained his Mini SX win streak taking home the Limited 88cc class. ‰ÛÏIts awesome just to come out and ride for fun so close to home, I was so flat out today doing freestyle, racing and watering the track but I loved it!‰Û
