Richard Sainct dies in Rallye des Pharaons

KTM Have announced that 3 times Rally Dakar Winner Richard Sainct died today (Wednesday) while competing in the “Rallye des Pharaons” in Egypt. Media reports have stated that the 2003 Dakar runner up died in the fourth leg after having crashed earlier in the day.
In a short press release KTM announced that Medical services attended the scene of Richard's accident promptly but were unable to save him. KTM will now withdraw all factory riders from the rest of the Rally in respect of Richard's memory.
In a 14 year career, 34-year-old Sainct became regarded as the best of his time by many of his pears. The Frenchman won the Tunisia Rally three times, the Morocco Rally 4 times as well as the Rally of Egypt and the Rally Worldcup.
Sainct is survived by his Girlfriend and 2 children
