Moore, from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia’s goldfield region strung together the perfect series campaign in 2009 to take victory by a slender 2 point margin over arch-rival and pre event favourite, Queensland representative Courtney Knight.

And in doing so continue her sponsorship package from Honda Motorcycles, Fox Clothing and Fuchs Silkolene Oils for the 2010 season.

The event was held in testing conditions at the Outtrim circuit in Victoria’s Gippsland region, with hot and humid weather to start the day before the skies opened up just before the gate dropped for the first event and sent flash floods across the well prepared circuit.

A last minute withdrawal due to injury from our Northern Territory representative Taylah Maurice left us with 6 girls battling it out for the overall win on the day and what a battle it was.

From the outset it was clear there would be a three way tussle for the overall between Queensland Yamaha Development Rider Courtney Knight, Western Australian BCP Honda Rider and reigning champ Jess Moore and NSW Yamaha Rider Jessica Gardiner.

All three girls swapped the lead numerous times throughout the day with Courtney Knight taking wins in the Public Speaking and lap time sectors, Jessica Gardiner dominating the Fitness Shuttle Run beep test and Jess Moore stringing together three category wins by taking out the ‘on bike technique’ module while also winning both of the back to back 5 lap races on her CRF250R.

When the final points were tallied at the end of the day it was Jess Moore who topped the tally two points clear of her rivals Courtney Knight and Jessica Gardiner who tied on points for second.

“Wow what a day it’s been,” said Moore.

“That was such a fun day battling with the girls but I have to say I’m over the moon to have won. The 2 back to back races in the pouring rain was nerve racking stuff. The three of us battled every lap in the mud and when it was all over we all laughed and joked about it.”

“I’d really like to say a big thank you to my dad Ray for all his help, to Lee for putting together the Honda Girls on the Gas Program and a big thanks to Rikki from FTS for allowing me to borrow her CFR250R for the event,” said an ecstatic Moore.

Event Director Lee Hogan was extremely happy with the Final of the Honda Girls on the Gas for 2009.

“The girls continue to impress me with how they perform and hold themselves in competition. I still think they don’t get anywhere near the amount of press and publicity that they deserve. I’m confident the program has supported and developed our local female riders and will continue to do so,” said Hogan.

Joining Lee Hogan as guest judges for the day was Fox product manager Mick ‘Turtle’ Sinclair and fellow BCP coach Jades Oates.
