Motorcycle racing will return to the Yarragundry Park track near Wagga Wagga, NSW, when the Riverina Long Track meeting is staged later this year.
Promoter Bob Sunderland has announced that the meeting will be staged on Saturday, November 21.
That will be the first open competition at the venue since heatwave conditions for the last meeting in February coincided with the horrific bushfires down in Victoria.
There has also been a change off-track as Sunderland will now carry on as sole promoter after he and former co-promoter Terry Poole amicably decided to end their partnership.
"We had some good meetings working together but Terry will now pursue other promotional interests while I concentrate on Wagga" said Sunderland.
Since Terry Poole first staged a meeting at the Wagga Wagga Showground back in 2002 a Riverina Long Track meeting has been staged most years.
Sunderland has just the November meeting scheduled at this stage and will look at further dates into the New Year.
In the current tough economic times some meetings suffer as competitors become more selective what meetings they undertake. But as Sunderland said "Yarragundry Park is a great facility, riders always like racing on the track so I hope they will support this meeting as I would like to continue to promote the venue."
