Following the launch last November of Aprilia's radical 4.5V2 450 V-Twin Supermotard machine comes another impressive release with the launch of the Terra Modena 450cc Supermoto machine. The result of a collaboration between I-TEA (Iniziative Tecnologiche Applicate), a company recently founded by Dario Calzavara, and HPE belonging to Piero Ferrari.
The Terra Modena SX2 as it will be know will be powered by 450cc engine, an exclusive extractable 6-gear transmission, a rectangular box-type chassis paired with an elliptical-section dual-girder system, a wide frontal air intake and a "chimney flue" Exhaust.
At the recent launch of the Terra Modena SX2 company CEO Georges Kern said, "Terra Modena and IWC share a passion for precision and innovative engineering. Their common values are rooted in their will to achieve maximum performance, their strive for qualitative excellence, and their unmistakable design. This is what transforms a leading product into a work of art."
Company founder Dario Calzavara stated that the company will launch a range of motorbikes possessing the latest technology and refined design that will be produced side by side with the Supermoto, Motocross and Enduro racing models. "Our objective is to be winners in both racing and the market, and that is why we have two specific targets: to win the World Championship in 2005 and to list the company on the Italian Stock Market in the new Mercato Expandi within 2010." Calzavara said. The Terra Modena Team, managed by Massimo Rizzo, will compete in the 2004 World Championship and French Championship series, fielding riders Alexandre Thiebault and Michele Lavetti. The Team will be supported by MAG-Lite and AB medica.
Under the Terra Modena business plan, 35 SX2 bikes will be built in 2004 and 150 next year, with production gradually increasing to 1,000 models in 2007. Their road registration will be possible and they will be equipped with the same engine, wheel rims, technology and special components as the SX2, but also with lights and a Euro 3 type-approved exhaust.
"It is for touching the emotions of not only motorcyclists, but of all lovers of beautiful and functional things. We address ourselves to those who appreciate high-performing single-cylinder motorbikes and to new market targets, such as women." he continued "Terra Modena will launch a range of motorbikes possessing the latest technology and refined design that will be produced side by side with the Supermoto, Motocross and Enduro racing models". Calzavara concluded.
