Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of August will see the Ballarat Rovers Motorcycle Club host Rounds 9 & 10 of the Yamaha Victorian Off Road Championship at Monza Park, Ballarat.
The Ballarat Rovers have put some time and effort into this year’s event to ensure that riders and spectators are set to have a great day. With the riders competing on two different tests throughout the day; one expected to consist of mainly motocross track an extreme section and a little bit of bush, while the other is mainly bush.
With showers expected daily in the area until Friday the normal wet clay could quite possibly become another slippery affair. With less that 50 points separating the top four riders and minimal rounds left the fight for top position will be a great one to watch. With some pro and expert riders have competed in challenging cross country events two weekends in a row (VORC and AORC), the race will come down to rider fitness, recovery and of course bike reliability.
With Christensen’s backed Blake Hore currently leading the Championship by 16 points over Todd Stephenson and 21 points over Jehi Willis, Hore really must remain on his game over the next few rounds to keep the Number 1 plate in 2009. If conditions remain wet and slippery we might just see Stephenson take his 3rd Outright win for the season.
Another man who may just upset the standings in these conditions is Suzuki backed Rohan Crouch, who upset the younger riders earlier in the season in wet conditions at the Stockman Enduro (Rnd 3).
Racing starts at 9am both days and with free entry for spectators, it’s a great way to spend your weekend!
