Highway Performance Bikes Riders David Hogan #127 (#517) and Jennifer Blackwood #471 (#747) are making the long trip south this weekend to Horsham in Victoria for the 9th and 10th rounds of the Australian Off Road Championship.
With the championship nearing its end, both David and Jennifer are looking to continue to finish strongly and push for a top 3 finish to the championship. "It is a bit of a stretch to make the podium for the championship as both Jennifer and myself missed a few rounds due to our USA trip. But were making up for the absence as best we can" David said.
Both riders sit in 6th in their respective classes with only 4 rounds remaining. With every rider eager to stand on the podium at the end of the season, competition is heating up.
David's AXO Motul backed KTM200EXC is one of the smallest bikes in the E2/3 field. David is pitted against 300cc 2 strokes and 450cc 4 strokes. But this hasn't deterred him at all. "Some places on different tracks I think that I'm lacking some top end speed, but what I loose on straight open sections, I make up in tight slow sections as my KTM200EXC turns so well. It's nice to be on a bike that is so light and nimble but with heaps of power on demand" David said.
As for Jennifer and her MCA Racing KTM250SXF, life in the off road scene has been a massive challenge to a one time MX only rider. Jennifer's recent pace at events and her ability to get over challenging obstacles has improved immensely in recent times. " I've definitely become more confident in my ability to get over logs, rocks and whatever else you can find out there to run a track over" Jennifer said.
The final round of the Australian Off Road Championship is to be held at Nowra on the 16th and 17th of August. The Highway Performance Bikes team and all the riders competing in the event would love to see a big crowd at the final round when the Championship will be decided.
