Team Shift Motul Suzuki's Matt Moss has confirmed he will begin his 2008 season at the first round of the 2008 Yamaha Stadium Motocross series to be held January 12th at the Queanbeyan showgrounds just outside of Canberra.
Moss, who is racing a RMZ 250 this year, won't be the only big gun to contest the event - Woodstock Bourbon Honda rider Daniel McCoy will be ripping it up on his CRF 450 in the Pro Open class.
More than 300 riders have already entered the round, but there is still time and spots left to get an entry in for those keen to give it a go.
"These events are great to get ready for the season and Phil Sargeant of Dirt Bike Promotions always puts on a good event, so it's always good to go and do them," 19-year-old Moss said.
"There is always good racing because it's such a tight and demanding track… it doesn't matter how fast you are, you are always going to be pushing against other riders.
"The atmosphere, being under lights and the crowds, is also good. Everything is definitely amped up."
Yamaha Stadium Motocross events boast classes for every level of rider, from Nippers - four to eight-year-olds on 50cc bikes - to Clubman, Women's All Powers, Pro Lites and Pro Open.
Positions are still available for the first round in the following classes: Nippers, Junior 50cc, Junior 85cc 12yrs, Junior 85cc 13-15yrs, Junior 250cc 13-14yrs, Women's All Powers, Pro Lites and Pro Open.
Racing starts at midday, with the gates dropping for the main races at 5pm. The purpose-built track is fully equipped with large flood lights to allow spectators and riders to experience up to seven hours of racing and entertainment.
