Marmont second in German SX Championship

A crash in the closing stages of the final race of the German Supercross Championship has cost Australian Jay Marmont The 2004 German Supercross Championship. At the final event held in Dortmund, Germany last weekend (Feb-10) - the event ran over a 3 day period - Marmont won the Friday night event and came forth on Saturday night, leaving him in a good position to take the championship coming into Sunday's final.
In Sundays final 20 year old Marmont had a handy lead and looked certain to take the win until a fall in the late stages of the race. This left the way open to Marmont's main title opponent Casey Johnson to take the win and his second German Supercross title leaving Marmont a disappointed second in the championship.
Marmont now heads back to Australia where he will contest the first round of the Australian Supercross Nationals in Sydney on February 17.
