Wasserman Media Group's Studio411 and Godfrey Entertainment have announced that production has begun on 199 Lives, a documentary that will provide an intimate look at the events, personalities, triumphs and tragedies that have shaped action sports phenomenon, Travis Pastrana. The movie is slated for a 2008 limited theatrical release as well as a worldwide DVD release.
"If you've watched TV in the last five years you've likely seen Travis Pastrana do something that blows your mind," said Jeremy Rawle, Producer of 199 Lives. "He's the most versatile motorsports athlete in the world. Who else can do a double backflip on a motorcycle and then step into a rally car and win a championship? However, few people know Travis on a deeper level. There's a very intriguing person behind all the championships and gold medals. That's the goal of 199 Lives, to show the other side of Travis."
"We have built a great relationship with Travis and Godfrey Entertainment through several successful endemic films and are thrilled to be working with this group of talented individuals on such a great story," said David Brooks, vice-president, Business Development, WMG. "Travis is one of the greatest athletes and personalities in action sports but his spirit, accomplishments and future endeavours go way beyond that world, and we are excited to bring this story to a wider audience."
At just 22, with a blend of talent, determination and a little luck, Pastrana has become a living legend as a motocross racer, FMX rider, action sports hero, filmmaker, and Rally Car driver. This documentary will go beyond the antics and stunts that have been well documented in the on-going "Travis and the Nitro Circus" film series, and provide a rare glimpse into his childhood, motocross racing career, his rise and dominance in FMX, the injuries that almost sidelined his career, his transition to Rally Car racing and his continuing drive to push his personal limits whether it is the double back flip, base jumping, crashing cars, desert racing or stunts in his own backyard.
