Price and Grabham More Than Please With 2015 Golden Tyre Choice

Posted: Friday, 19th June, 2015 : 2:14 PM - - 15,961 Reads

GoldenTyre have continued to prove their winning formula, partnering with the KTM Off-Road Racing team and Toby Price to win the 2015 edition of the world renowned Finke Desert race.

The 40th edition of the Finke Desert race was held on the Queens Birthday long weekend, with the race seeing riders race flat out across the gruelling, harsh and diverse desert surface from Alice Springs To Finke on Sunday before returning down the same 226km track the following day.

In just their first year partnering the most respected and dominant desert racing team in the pits over the decade, GoldenTyre not only raced to the outright victory but picked up an outstanding 1-2 result with Tye Simmonds coming home in second position behind Price.

“This was our first year of using the GoldenTyres in the desert and the Off-Road scene here in Australia and we are having some really great results with them.” Price commented.

“I am stoked with how well the tyres have handled all the conditions we have thrown at them so far, they definitely hold their own and have awesome grip. We are over the moon with them.” Price added

The success at the 40th running of the Finke desert race continues on an outstanding 2015 season to-date with GoldenTyres also powering the KTM Off-Road team to multiple outright and class victories in this years Australian Off-Road Championship.

Fitting out Toby Prices’s 500 EXC-F, Simmonds 450 EXC-F and Daniel Sanders KTM 300 EXC, GoldenTyre has found class success with all three riders across a variety of different terrains culminating in a dominating performance at rounds five and six of the championship in South Australia taking the top three steps of the outright podium in the deep sand at Wanbi.

KTM Off-Road Team Manager Ben Grabham could not be more delighted with his decision to seek out GoldenTyre as the teams tyre of choice for the 2015 season.

“In 2015 we started from scratch in a lot of ways with the team with all the Off-Road racing disciplines coming back under the one truck. “ Grabham explained.

“With the team racing such a wide variety of races from Enduro-cross, AORC and the Desert races we needed a Tyre company that had tyres available that could win in all the conditions we would be racing in.

“After looking around and having a chance to ride on the GoldenTyres and also speaking to our new team-member in Daniel Sanders who raced on them a lot in the sand last year we chased after them and so far so good in all conditions.” Grabham explained.

“The biggest advantage with running the GoldenTyres was the selection of tyres they have available, especially for the 18 Inch rear wheel.

“For the Finke Desert Race this year we ran the GT216 on the front for both the prologue and the two days of racing, while on the rear we opted for the GT333 for the rear while running the GT200 140/80-18 on the rear for the run from Alice to Finke and back.

“The results not only at Finke but all year have been great with the GoldenTyres, from the special tyre that we ran for Enduro-cross earlier this year that was super soft and tacky and then the previous round of the AORC we had a 18 inch sand tyre available to us and from what I can see GoldenTyre are the only Tyre on the market that has a sand specific 18inch rear Tyre.

“All in all we could not be more happy with our GoldenTyres” Grabham concluded.

GoldenTyre representative, Phil Astley could not be happier with the partnership with KTM and show casing the wide variety of GoldenTyres that are available to the public on the biggest stage in Australia.

“We could not be any happier with our relationship with the KTM Off-Road Racing team,” Astley said. “The teams commitment to racing and only using the best possible products has once again shown in their results in 2015.

“It has been great to see the success the team has had in the Off-Road Championship this year and to see our GoldenTyres not only withstand one of the worlds toughest races in the Finke Desert Race, but to show unbeatable durability and grip across the weekend to help Toby Price and Tye Simmonds cross the line for a 1-2 finish, we just could not be any more proud.

“We are looking forward to continuing our support with the team in the remaining rounds of the AORC, the upcoming Hattah desert race and of course the Australian Four Day Enduro later this year in Tasmania.” Astley concluded.
