Husqvarna has reigned supreme at the final round of the Queensland Supermoto Championships held in Stanthorpe over the weekend, taking out two Queensland titles.
Newly crowned Australian S1 champion, Josh McFarlane, continued his domination of the Unlimited class on board his Husqvarna SM510R by taking the checkered flag in every race without incident. The round win cemented his Queensland title, 33 points clear of second placed Michael Ricketts (230pts) and 48 points ahead of Glenn Kempson (215 pts).
"I was eager to finish off my season well, and to take out another title is the perfect end to the year" McFarlane commented.
"The bike (Husqvarna SM510R) was as strong as ever and the Husqvarna crew has done an awesome job all year keeping these machines on the podium. The results this year and this weekend are a tribute to the strength of the bikes and the work of the team."
Husqvarna also took home the S3 championship through the fantastic efforts of Jake Magee who went into the weekend in 2 nd place. Like McFarlane, Magee dominated all races, taking the maximum 100 points on offer for the round which secured him the Queensland S3 title.
"The new bike (2006 Husqvarna SM250R) was excellent all weekend, the setup and balance of the bike gives you that much more confidence and it showed this weekend. To finish the season with a title is really rewarding." Reported Magee
The rookie effort of the weekend had to go to Husqvarna newcomer, Adam Cini, who traded his motocross machine for a supermotard. Cini shocked everyone by taking out the All Powers Challenge ahead of a talented field of experienced contenders.
"It’s (Supermoto) awesome! It took me a while to get used to the bike and the bitumen, but it all seemed to come together. I’ve always wanted to race one of these things (Supermotard) and now I want to keep racing." Said a jubilant Cini.
Husky Chix rider, Rebecca Bateman, also set the course on fire in her pink leathers. Bateman was the only female to compete in the S3 class and finished 5 th in class for the weekend, an awesome effort.
In the Sport class long time Supermoto competitor Josh Houwen added another title to his belt by finishing 20 points ahead of Michael Brummell.
