Taylor Potter U.S Bound After Claiming Top ASX Lites Privateer Honours

Posted: Tuesday, 26th November, 2013 : 11:14 AM - - 7,204 Reads

The final round of 2013 Terex Australian Supercross Championship was held at Toowoomba Queensland on 16 November with privateer racer, Taylor Potter taking his A1 Motorcycles Honda CR250F to a fine fourth place finish in the Pro Lites main event.

The Victorian racers 4th place finish at the final round also elevated him to 4th place in the Pro Lites championship securing him the title as leading privateers in the tightly fought class.

“I’m very happy with my Honda and as a privateer it’s been a great experience with a bike that has been able to perform as well and even better than a lot of the factory team bikes.” Potter stated. “I spent a couple of weeks in Queensland and finished second overall at the Queensland State Supercross Championship and I was able to train and practice in the heat which was good.”

The hard, fast and tight racing at Toowoomba was the perfect training ground for Potter as he prepares to head back to the United States of America for the second year in a row to continue his dream of racing in the worlds best Supercross Championship, the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship.

“The racing at Toowoomba was tight and fast and a good gate saw me up the front and other than a few hassles passing lappers I was able to keep on the pace and get my best result of the championship," Potter continued.

"The racing will be good preparation for the East Coast Monster Energy AMA Supercross as I’m heading back to the States early January 2014 and I’m looking to go a lot better than 21st place. I’m aiming for all the finals and with my Honda I’m pretty confident that I will be able to achieve good results.”

Like all privateer efforts, the qualified electrician who turns 24 this coming Friday could not have made it to all six rounds of the 2013 Australian SX Championship without some help from his personal sponsors, with Potter thanking everyone who supported him in becoming Australia's top ranked SX Lites privateer.

“The six rounds came up fast and went quickly and as usual there are a number of people that I have to say a big thank you to for their support and sponsorship. The really important people include my parents, my girlfriend Alex and my manager, bobcat / excavator driver, maintenance man, tuner Adrian!

Also a big thanks to all of my sponsors, A1 Honda in Ringwood, Honda MPE, Fox, Motul, Pirelli, JT Sprockets, RK Chains, Vortex Ignitions, The Collective decals, Krooztune, xpracing.com, Scott, Alpinestars, Tag, Funnelweb Filters, Yarra Valley Conference Centre, Sewing Machine City, KokodaRacing.com.au, and Mainmoto.”

Potter is still in need of some support for his 2014 U.S endeavour and will be holding a Fund-raiser on the 6th of December in Melbourne to put the final touches on his goal of making an AMA Supercross main event when the East Coast 250SX series kicks off in February.

"To help me get to the States on the 6 December 2013 there is a fundraising dinner in Melbourne, if you would like to come along, buy some cool stuff at an auction and have a great night call me on 0497 079073." Potter concluded.
