Josh Cachia Scores JDR/KTM their first podium of 2012

Victorian rider Josh Cachia has risen for his first podium of 2012 in the MX2 category of the Monster Energy MX Nationals, at Wonthaggi, located in his home state on Sunday.

Cachia's podium effort also marks the first time that his JDR/KTM Factory racing team have finished inside the top three in any class after three rounds of racing.

Benefiting from fast starts as he has all season on aboard his KTM 250SXF, Cachia was able to get out front from the get go in the opening moto before holding strong all the way to the end of the race to claim the win.

A second place effort in moto two followed by a hotly constested seventh place in the final moto was enough to see Cachia squeeze his way onto the podium, something he will be looking to repeat when the series heads to Wanneroo in Western Australia in two weeks time.

“It was pretty interesting with close racing all day and the first race went well for me,” Cachia explained. “I was pretty stoked to come away with the win in that moto and I definitely can’t complain with that."

The former under19s (MXD) champion was quick to thank his team, praising them for all they have done to make is race days so easy.

"I can’t thank the team enough because they’re like a second family to me and it makes it fun to come to the races.” Cachia concluded

The strong result at round three along good showings at the first two rounds held at Conondale and Coonabarabran respectively, now see Cachia placed in fourth position in the championship standings.
