Lawson Bopping lead the Australian contingent in fourth place fresh off the back of his pole position effort at Coonabarabran, with Todd Waters rounding out the top five on his Motul Pirelli Suzuki.

Cooper will now look to put what he has been working on both off and on the bike into effect during tomorrow's races.

"I changed some things up at the start of last week and things are working, my bike feels great and the team is awesome and I am looking forward to tomorrow.” said Cooper.

"The track has changed a lot from the when I rode here last, there is a lot of loam on the surface of the track, but is hard pack underneath with a lot of kickers and unpredictable bumps." he continued.

"When the sun goes behind the clouds, with the dark soil it makes it a little hard to find your lines, but it is the same for everyone." concluded Cooper.

In the MX2 class the early practice session belonged to Adam Monea on his Zero Seven machine, when he laid down the time to chase for the Qualifying session later in the afternoon.

When the riders re entered the track after lunch it was Serco Metal Mulisha Yamaha rider of Kirk Gibbs with the fastest lap time, followed by Ford Dale. Monea once again laid down a fast lap time and finished the session out in third spot.

Gibbs fastest lap makes it two rounds in a row that his Yamaha team has sat at the top of the time sheets after qualifying after Luke Styke logged the fastest time at Coonabarabran. Gibbs will now be looking to emulate what Styke was able to do at round two and sweep every Moto on Sunday.

"It is always good to go pole, though having the fastest lap time does not mean to much" stated Gibbs, it is all about being able to put together two seven lap races back to back, then a fourteen lap race on race day"

"Ill be looking to run smooth consistent laps tomorrow and get some goods starts. I know I have the speed, now I just have to get good starts and keep it on two wheels." concluded the 2011 MX2 series runner up.

With over 50 riders once again entering the MXD class and taking into consideration that the lap time was under two minutes long, the class was split into two groups for qualifying with the top twenty from each group getting a start for Sunday's races.

Leading group A was current points leader Dylan long. The split group left Dylan in a bit of a weird position as he was third fastest overall but first in his group, leaving him with the second gate pick tomorrow.

"The track was not to bad for qualifying today, we were first up for qualifying and the track was a little bit wet and a little one lined" said Wilson.

"I took off quickly from the line and kept clean and put in a few quick laps, I ended up third fastest overall which is ok and I am feeling good heading into tomorrow." concluded the Choice Motorsports KTM rider.

"I feel pretty good considering I have just jumped on the new bike, I have jelled very well with it quickly." said Lamont."

"I felt good out on the sandy track today and am looking forward to racing." concluded the New Zealand based rider.

Racing will get underway from 8.30am tomorrow at the Dandenong motocross track at Wonthaggi and once again live timing will be avaliable for those at home which can be viewed HERE
