Ford Dale and Todd Waters gain confidence in the sands of Coolum

Both Ford Dale and Todd Waters put the disappointment of their Coonabarabran results behind them at the latest round of the Sunshine State series held at Coolum over the weekend.
Dale who is a championship favourite in the MX2 class steered his Carlton Dry Honda Racing Thor machine to two race wins and found the consistency that deserted him at the last round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals.
"I felt really good at Coolum , I had two really good consistent motos and made no mistakes so I'm really pumped with the day, my Carlton dry Honda was really good, everything worked well and it all went to plan."
After being critical of the changes made to the Coolum track during the off season, Dale was happy to see that some more revisions to the track have opened it back up and really enjoyed the racing at the track.
"The club has done a lot of work to the track and it was awesome on the weekend" stated Dale.
"I feel really good heading into Wonthaggi, Coolum's track is similar to Wonthaggi so it was great practice for this weekend's race." he added
Dale was not alone in his decision to head to Coolum to get some race practice between national rounds with Jake Moss, Jay Marmont and Todd Waters also making the track to Queensland for the weekend.
Waters being good mates with Dale has spent some time both before and after the weekend training with Dale on some of the local tracks, including getting some time riding at Harvey Bay in preparation for the national round to be held there later in the year
"Todd is up training for the week as well so it will be nice riding with him and pushing each other, it will be the best preparation for the race" concluded Dale.
Waters also found the form he was looking for at Coolum , beating both Moss and Marmont on his way to claiming the overall win in the Pro Open class for the weekend, two riders that finished in front of him at Coonabarabran.
"It was good to get the win at Coolum after a disappointed second round of the nationals" said Waters, "my speed was there at Coonabarabran it was just not the day I was looking for with bad starts and crashes"
"To come out and beat Mossy and Marmont has given me some confidence and I was able to get some good starts, hopefully I can carry that over to Wonthaggi this weekend' he added.
Waters is no stranger to the Wonthaggi track and is looking forward to what will hopefully be another sandy type surface this weekend.
"I raced the Victorian state title round at Wonthaggi earlier in the year, it is not too bad of a track, hopefully they rip it really deep and it becomes really sandy.
"I am really looking forward to this weekend" Waters Concluded.
