Ward Racing Development riders continue to Shine in the Sunny State

The WRD Motocross race team of Nathan Crawford and Wade Hunter currently hold the points' leaders red plates in all three classes contested after round three of the Sunshine State Motocross series was completed at Coolum over the weekend.

Nathan Crawford returned from a five week layoff from a fractured collar bone and was instantly in top form winning the 13 to 14 years 250cc class on his Yamaha YZ250F. Crawford fought off some strong opposition across the three motos but was in front of the field when the chequered flag waved.

After such a successful day, Crawford has increased his lead in the series but still has several rounds remaining and will need to stay focused over the remaining rounds.

Crawford backed up his victory on the 250 with a solid performance in the 13 to 15 years 125/150cc class taking fourth for the round. With some misfortune to other competitors, Nato as he is known by at the race track, was able to take control of the points lead and his second red plate in the series.

Senior teammate Wade Hunter had a more challenging day in the senior Pro Lites division but still managed to hang onto his red plate after three rounds. Hunter took 4-6 finishes for the round and landed fifth for the day.

Team owner, Mike Ward, was proud of the boys' effort and sparkling start to the 2012 season.

"Both guys have been doing the hard yards during the week and the results on the weekend show It." commented Ward. "Nato's racing after over a month off was good while Wade had to work hard for his results but still hangs onto the points lead."

"The next round is at Toowoomba's Echo Valley and it is a tough track that can make or break your series. We will continue to work closely with the riders and our team sponsors to continue the success at the next event." he concluded.
