Dean Ferris returns to world championship racing this weekend

Dean Ferris is set to return to the race track for round two of the FIM World Motocross championships being held at the Sevlievo venue in Bulgaria this weekend.

After a preseason crash where Ferris damaged his elbow, the Australian rider has been concentrating on getting himself fit and ready to race as soon as he got the clearance from the doctors to do so.

Though feeling comfortable on his Ice one Kawasaki race bike after spending a little time riding leading into this weekend, Ferris is still unsure exactly how his injury will hold up once racing gets underway.

"I'm feeling comfortable." stated Ferris, "My conditioning Feels ok considering I couldn't ride for five weeks but I guess this weekend will be a true test."

"The elbow has healed great and strength has come back fast." he added.

Ferris is not a complete stranger to the GP series having had a few guest rides with the Honda team in the past. This season sees Ferris embark on a full time campaign in the MX1 class of the world championship series aboard the teams KX450 machine.

After spending a few years at or near the top of the points table in Australian racing, Ferris has always been a rider with a clear goal coming into any race season, his focus has always been on winning races and gunning for championship glory.

Heading into his first race as a full time rider on the world scene where he will run his former Australian race number #111, Ferris is finding it a little harder to set a clear goal and will go into his opening race with an open mind and see where he sits come the end of the weekend.

"I really don't know what to expect for this weekend. I don't know where I belong yet so I'm heading to Bulgaria with an open mind." the rider from Kyogle New South Wales explained.

"I will try my best and that will have to do." he added with a bit of a laugh.

"In Australia I always set my goals to win so it's a little strange for me heading to a race without that expectation on myself!" Ferris Concluded.
