Tom McCormack and Kirk Hutton share the spoils at the South East Queensland off road Championship opening rounds.

Tom McCormack and Kirk Hutton took the wins in the two premier classes aboard the YZ250F and all-new WR450F at rounds one and two of the Yamaha South-East Queensland Championship, held near Warwick at the weekend.
McCormack, rode to Victory in the E1 class ahead of Kristian Sprenger and John Day, and in the process took out the outright championship class ahead of fellow Yamaha rider Hutton.
"I was really happy with my result," McCormack said. "It was good to get a consistent race under my belt."
"I'm just trying to build on my consistency and speed. Hopefully I can keep going the way I am in the series and hopefully do well in the Queensland title as well." said the 19 year old
"The YZ250F is going great. We made some really good improvements to the suspension and motor this year. It was the perfect bike for the type of track we were racing on the weekend." he added
"The organisers of the race did a great job. The track was bunted nearly the whole way. It was fast in sections, but also technical. It was a really good weekend." McCormack concluded.
Hutton was happy with his E2 class win and surprised with just how well his new WR450 performed
"The WR450F was a real surprise package, especially on Saturday in the three-hour cross-country," Hutton said."I found it really easy to ride, even for such a long period of time.
"I had a bit of bad luck in the cross-country on Saturday - I had the Outright leader in my sights when I ran out of fuel and had to push it up the hills for the next five kilometers." he explained
I was still able to win my class and finish second. Again, I was so impressed by the WR, which kept going even though there had been a mistake with my fuel stop and it was basically running on fumes. the 38 year old added.
"I was really happy with my result, especially considering I haven't been able to train as much as normal because my wife just had twins. It was good to see that I could still ride fast enough to win the E2 class... I'm looking forward to the next round." Hutton concluded.
