Team owner Andrew Hopson was impressed with Norris's smart decision not to pit in the final moto when his tire went down and choosing to stay on track and tough it out to a third place moto finish.

"We were in the running for the overall day win with Norris, only to see it slip away with a flat tire. Watching Mitch to ride smart enough to salvage a 2nd overall was positive." Hopson stated.

The Axis Motorsports other rider Ben George had another tough round and was forced to sit out Sundays racing after a nasty concussion suffered in Saturdays practice. Ben was taken to Dubbo hospital as a precaution for some tests.

The good news for George is that there are no major concerns and he was released Sunday with the all clear by Doctors.

Team owner Andrew Hopson remains optimistic about the rest of the season. "It's been a weekend of emotions and contrasts. On Saturday we had Ben George taken to hospital with no phone service at the track and no updates of his condition." said Hopson

"We stayed focused after Ben’s incident and made up some valuable championship points for Mitch. I guess you could call it a bittersweet ending to a challenging weekend and we now look forward to being 100% ready for Rd 3 in Wonthaggi" he concluded.
