Pastrana wins The Rally America National Champion!

23-year-old Travis Pastrana has completed a stunning transition from two wheel racing to four wheel racing by winning the 2006 Rally America National Championship overall drivers title. With one round still remaining after the Lake Superior Performance Rally, round 8, in Houghton, Michigan, last weekend (Oct-23), Pastrana became the youngest winner in American Rally history.
The X Games and former AMA motocross champion only needed to finish 6th in the second last round to bag the crown but with his main rival Matt Iorio crashing out on the Friday the job was done with a round to still complete.
"This is amazing, its been a great year for us, everything has just worked so well, the car, the team and my co-driver Christian Edstrom have all just clicked together perfectly," exclaimed the Subaru Rally Team USA driver. "We can't celebrate yet, as we are in the middle of a rally fighting for another win, but the pressure is really off now and we can have some fun!"
Pastrana has earned three rally victories, four 2nd place finishes and a Gold medal at the inaugural X Games Rally event where he narrowly beat out his hero and WRC legend Colin McRae.
