Over 700 entrants from Australia and New Zealand are set to compete in the 2006 Honda Australian Junior Motocross Championship to be held at Fairbairn Park MVRG, near Canberra, from Monday September 25 through to Saturday September 30.
Without a doubt the Honda Australian Junior Motocross Championship is the biggest event the ACT Motorcycle Club Inc has ever staged, and is guaranteed to be one to be remembered as wealth of young, talented riders vie for victory.
ACT Motorcycle club secretary Donna Luff has been one of the many club members working long hours over the past six months to ensure the Championship is a success - not only for competitors, but the club as a whole.
"It's going to be a fabulous event and one that everyone is looking forward to. An Australian Championship brings the best of the best riders and that will result in plenty of action throughout the classes," Luff enthused.
"If you want to see many of the rising stars of this sport, then the Australian Championship is the place to be, and who knows - you could be witnessing our next Chad Reed ."
The six day event commences on Monday, September 25 and concludes on Saturday, September 30 with the running of finals to decide the Australian Junior Motocross Champions for 2006.
With numbers for each class exceeding 34 entrants, each rider will have a total of three heat races (motos) and the top 34 qualifiers from the heats will battle it out in three rounds of finals. The champion for each class is the most consistent rider from the three finals. Motorcycle Australia will award the top three in each class with medallions along with earning the right to wear the # 1 plate for the next 12 months.
Australian Championship classes on show throughout the event will range from 50cc (auto division 2) up to 250cc (4 stroke) and everything in between.
The action on both days is scheduled to begin at 8am (Monday to Thursday) and 9am (Friday and Saturday), and full canteen and spectator facilities available.
Entry for spectators is $ 5 (Saturday only).
The ACT Motorcycle Club operates from Fairbairn Park, Pialligo Ave, Majura in the ACT - between the NSW town of Queanbeyan and the Canberra Airport.
