ODI Motocross Grips

By: Aaryn Minerds

Posted: Tuesday, 24th January, 2012 - -

A few days before Christmas a few little goodies for the Fullnoise.com.au RM-Z250 started to roll in, with the first of those products arriving being a bag full of ODI grips from Lusty Industries.

ODI are an American company specializing in making grips for various sports, from BMX, Mountain Bikes, watercraft and most importantly for us, Motorcycles including Motocross. All ODI Products are manufactured in the USA and the company has spent over 25 years in the grip making game perfecting their product range.

With multiple styles and a endless choice in colours including the brightly coloured TLD Design series, there is an ODI grip to suit everyone.

With a large choice of grips to choose from including the Ruffian Half waffle grip, Ruffian No Waffle grip and some brightly colored ODI Troy Lee Designs signature grips the decision on which type to Grip to run with and try out first was a tough one.

I finally settled for a set of Red half Waffle Ruffian grips in a medium compound, I have never traditionally been a fan of half waffle grips, but with the option of trying the half waffle then run a non waffle grip in the future to compare the two, it is an option that after just a few rides I am glad that I have made.

The ODI half waffle grips have been a pleasant surprise, my initial ride with them was not to bad, though I was still having doubts about the choice to run the half waffle grip, there is just something about the feel of the raised rubber underneath the tips of my fingers I have never really felt comfortable with.

Over the last month and a half with plenty of ride time, not only have I become used to the extra rubber underneath my fingers and am starting to wonder if I can go back to running a non waffle grip! Another big bonus has been the disappearance of the blisters on my throttle hand; I have gone from having a three layer blister just under my ring finger to nothing at all.

We will continue to put the ODI Range of grips through their paces and during the next few months I will make the switch to the non waffle grip to see how much of a difference there is between the two, if the current set up is anything to go by I am sure I’ll be just as happy.

To see the full selection of ODI grips and the other ODI products available in Australia head over to Lusty Industries
